  1. Save work and shut down completely. Wait until the screen is black and the Mac is off.

  2. Hold the power button until startup options appear. Select the startup volume.

  3. Hold Shift, then click Continue in Safe Mode. Log in with your own credential when asked; keep it private.

  4. Compare the same symptom, then restart normally to leave safe mode. Differences are a software-loading clue, not a diagnosis of a particular app.

Check the result

Stop conditions
