Confirm the exact model

Select a model confirmation to begin the checks. The full preparation guide is below.

Preparation guide

  1. Confirm Wi-Fi is enabled and the Mac joins the intended network. Being connected does not guarantee internet access.

  2. Save work and restart the Mac. Check date/time is correct. Compare a known website on another device using the same network.

  3. If available, test a different trusted network. If only one network fails, contact its owner or ISP before changing the Mac.

  4. For persistent Mac-only issues, hold Option while opening the Wi-Fi menu and choose Wireless Diagnostics. Keep diagnostic reports private and review installed VPN software with your administrator.

Check the result

  • Save the network comparison. A network-specific issue should go to its owner or ISP; avoid replacing Wi-Fi hardware from this symptom.
  • If multiple known working networks fail on the Mac, contact Apple or your IT team with the observations.

Stop conditions

  • Stop using and charging a swollen or damaged battery. Do not open, compress, puncture, or attempt battery removal. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
  • Disconnect a damaged accessory if it is safe to do so. Do not open a mains power adapter.
  • Save accessible data before restarting. Do not reset, erase, flash firmware, bypass a lock, or open the enclosure in this task.
