Find and confirm your model

Open Settings → About phone and confirm Pixel 7. Check Android version and security update locally. Pixel 7a and Pixel 7 Pro are separate models.

Does not apply to: Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6, custom Android ROM.

Remove a removable case that blocks a lens and gently wipe the back glass with a soft clean cloth. Compare the preview in good lighting.

Restart Pixel 7 using Power + Volume up to show the power menu, then choose the normal restart. Retest the Pixel Camera app, not just a third-party camera app.

If still affected, press and hold Camera → App info → Storage & cache → Clear cache. Select cache only, then reopen the camera.

Check the Pixel Camera app update in Play Store. Compare the front and rear preview and record which fails; do not interpret a slight camera rattle as a failure by itself.

Save which reversible check restored the preview. Compare again during normal use before treating it as resolved.
Persistent front/rear preview or focus faults need Google repair support with the comparison. Cache clearing does not certify hardware health.

Stop using and charging a swollen or damaged battery. Do not open, compress, puncture, or attempt battery removal. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
Disconnect a damaged accessory if it is safe to do so. Do not open a mains power adapter.
Save accessible data before restarting. Do not reset, erase, flash firmware, bypass a lock, or open the enclosure in this task.
