Preparation guide

  1. Check Settings → About phone for Android version and update level. Confirm at least 2 GB available storage locally; do not delete personal files just to make space without a backup.

  2. Back up data before every repair. Repair Mode does not guarantee that a provider will avoid a reset if storage-related parts need replacement.

  3. When ready for handoff, open Settings → System → Repair mode and follow the on-screen instructions. Authenticate privately with your existing lock credential and allow the restart.

  4. Do not share the PIN or create a new PIN inside Repair Mode. Remove and keep the physical SIM before shipping. To exit later, use System → Repair mode and authenticate yourself.

Check the result

  • Save that the setting is available. Enable it only when ready for service, and confirm the provider’s data-preservation requirements.
  • If Repair Mode is absent, contact Google about supported preparation. Do not factory reset as an automatic fallback.

Stop conditions

  • Stop using and charging a swollen or damaged battery. Do not open, compress, puncture, or attempt battery removal. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
  • Disconnect a damaged accessory if it is safe to do so. Do not open a mains power adapter.
  • Save accessible data before restarting. Do not reset, erase, flash firmware, bypass a lock, or open the enclosure in this task.
