Preparation guide

  1. Choose one simple action such as opening Settings. Record whether missed touches occur there and in the affected app, or only inside one app.

  2. Use clean bare fingers and a clean screen. Remove a case obstructing the edge if safe. Do not press on damaged glass.

  3. If acceptable and safe, compare without the screen protector. Google notes a removed protector might not be reusable; leave this row untested if you retain it.

  4. For Pixel 7, review Screen protector mode in the installed Display/Display & touch settings. Current guidance places it under Touch sensitivity. Record its initial state, compare once and restore the preference you need.

  5. Log a later naturally occurring missed touch with the same app and covering condition. Persistent app-only trouble goes to the developer; trouble across controls goes to Google.

Check the result

  • Save the condition and app scope that changed touch. App-only problems should include the covering and permission-free Settings comparison when sent to the developer.
  • Give Google the Settings/app comparison, retained or removed protector and Screen protector mode result.
Stop conditions
  • Stop using and charging equipment with swelling, casing separation, smoke, a burning smell or suspected battery damage. Do not open or press on it.
  • Set damaged accessories aside. Do not open mains adapters or force connectors.
  • Do not erase, reset, flash firmware or bypass a lock as a default diagnostic step.
