Optional Ethernet connection checks

Confirm fitted Ethernet hardware before diagnosing a wired-network fault.

Confirm the exact model

Select a model confirmation to begin the checks. The full preparation guide is below.

Preparation guide

  1. Inspect the exact unit. The guide marks some Intel Ethernet/docking connectors as optional; do not assume every configuration has the same connector.

  2. For a fitted standard Ethernet connector, connect an undamaged network cable to a known network port. Keep extension connectors and standard sockets distinct.

  3. Check the Windows network status. Compare the cable/port on another permitted device if available.

  4. If a dock is required, use its exact compatibility instructions. Contact the network administrator if the network fails across devices; do not change a managed network configuration here.

Check the result

  • Save the fitted-hardware and network-status observation. Internet access may still depend on the network administrator.
  • Missing hardware requires the correct supported accessory; persistent link failure needs Lenovo or network support.

Stop conditions

  • Stop using and charging a swollen or damaged battery. Do not open, compress, puncture, or attempt battery removal. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
  • Disconnect a damaged accessory if it is safe to do so. Do not open a mains power adapter.
  • Save accessible data before restarting. Do not reset, erase, flash firmware, bypass a lock, or open the enclosure in this task.
