Confirm the exact model

Select a model confirmation to begin the checks. The full preparation guide is below.

Preparation guide

  1. Confirm this unit actually has a reader. The hardware is optional; an absent fingerprint option is not proof of a failed sensor.

  2. Use a clean dry uninjured finger. Keep hard objects, wet or dirty fingers away from the reader surface.

  3. Compare the existing enrolled fingerprint with your own normal sign-in credential. Do not delete all sign-in methods or share your password.

  4. If recognition remains unreliable, retain the observation and consult Sign-in options and Lenovo support. A forgotten BIOS or account password requires the owner’s legitimate support route.

Check the result

  • Save the safe-contact comparison. Keep your alternate sign-in method available.
  • If recognition remains unreliable, contact Lenovo or IT. This task does not bypass account, drive or BIOS locks.

Stop conditions

  • Stop using and charging a swollen or damaged battery. Do not open, compress, puncture, or attempt battery removal. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
  • Disconnect a damaged accessory if it is safe to do so. Do not open a mains power adapter.
  • Save accessible data before restarting. Do not reset, erase, flash firmware, bypass a lock, or open the enclosure in this task.
