Confirm the exact model

Select a model confirmation to begin the checks. The full preparation guide is below.

Preparation guide

  1. Test basic pointing and clicking before a multi-finger gesture. Some gestures are app-specific or unavailable immediately after using TrackPoint.

  2. Open Windows pointing-device settings and confirm the trackpad is enabled. Windows labels vary; preserve your previous setting.

  3. If the surface is oily, shut down first and gently wipe with a soft lint-free cloth lightly moistened as the manual permits. Keep liquid away from openings.

  4. Test pointer and click again, then a supported gesture in the same app. A gesture limitation is distinct from complete loss of pointer response.

Check the result

  • Save whether basic input works and which gesture/app differs. Consult the pointing-device help for supported gestures.
  • If enabled basic input fails, use an external mouse and contact Lenovo. Do not press a lifted trackpad or open the case.

Stop conditions

  • Stop using and charging a swollen or damaged battery. Do not open, compress, puncture, or attempt battery removal. Contact the manufacturer or a qualified service provider.
  • Disconnect a damaged accessory if it is safe to do so. Do not open a mains power adapter.
  • Save accessible data before restarting. Do not reset, erase, flash firmware, bypass a lock, or open the enclosure in this task.
